Our Story

Our Church

Established in 1936 by founding Pastor Roy H. Sweitzer, our early beginning was at the Sweitzer home in the community of Mapleton, just outside Midland, MI. The church was growing and later met in a home on Grove Street more centrally located in Midland.  This was the location until a block building (near the now Tim Horton's) on Saginaw Road could be built. Two more building programs would eventually bring us to our present location on Jefferson Avenue!

Most recently, 9 acres of land was purchased at 2420 N. Jefferson Ave. for future development and expansion of our present facility. Our rich 80-year history has seen our church grow and change into a vibrant and exciting spirit-filled church that includes several areas of ministry within the community of Midland and surrounding areas. We are proud to be an Apostolic Pentecostal Church that traces our roots and foundation back to the original church found in the gospel. This heritage is what makes us a Book of Acts church.

If you are looking for a Book of Acts church that still experiences the outpouring of God's Spirit and the baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire upon its believers, then look no further. We are that church.

Our Pastor

Our Pastoral History has been great over the years. We have been blessed with leadership of 5 wonderful pastors. Our present Senior Pastor, Michael Parsons, began his tenure at Pentecostal Temple in 1994. Formerly, he served as the Pastor of a great church near Houston, Texas. Nearby that location is where his dear wife, Dianne, was born and raised. Prior to this, they served together as the Missionary Superintendent over our churches and schools in the nation of Italy for many years.

Pastor Parsons accepted our church's invitation to come and be our pastor in 1994. Under his leadership the church has grown significantly. He has overseen the expansion of our present facility, as well as major remodeling projects and the purchase of property for our future relocation, further expansion, and growth.

His wife, Dianne, of 41 years, has been an intricate part of this ministry as well as a wonderful example of a Christian lady to our church and community. They have one son, John, who has also been a great blessing to their lives and ministry.
